Myth!
Shared parenting means we split time 50/50. This is a common misconception. MSH Associate Brittany Gregorchik, who loves the practice of family law explains: “Shared parenting doesn’t necessarily mean that time must be split exactly 50/50. Rather, shared parenting means that both parents are recognized as legal custodians of the child and therefore can access school and medical records, share in decision making, make and attend appointments for the child, and be actively involved in their child’s life.” Understanding custody agreements can be overwhelming. If you have questions about shared parenting, we are happy to help.
