I’ve always wanted to be a lawyer. The idea of advocating for clients in the courtroom and making a difference inspired me, but growing up in a small town in Pennsylvania, I doubted whether I could commit the time and financial resources to achieve my dream. Instead, I earned a bachelor’s degree in communications and worked for seven years in the professional world, including as a paralegal. Eventually, I realized that if I didn’t pursue my law degree, I would always regret it. With the support of my husband and parents, I moved to Columbus, Ohio, to attend Capital University Law School on a scholarship.
After graduating and passing the Bar Exam, I began practicing in bankruptcy and personal injury law before transitioning to domestic law, where I earned Elite Lawyer awards. While I enjoyed the work, I couldn’t find a firm where I truly felt like I belonged. That changed when I joined MSH. I was immediately welcomed into a supportive, collaborative environment that values its team and encourages individuality. Within a short time, I was given the opportunity to lead the firm’s personal injury department while continuing to handle domestic cases.
At MSH, I’ve finally found a workplace that aligns with my goals and values. The firm provides the flexibility to take on cases I’m passionate about and practice in my unique style, creating a more genuine experience for clients. After a long journey, I’m proud to be part of a firm where I belong and to have the career I’ve always dreamed of—advocating for clients and making a difference in the legal system.
The old firehouse dog reminds me of myself. He spent his glory days chasing the adrenaline, jumping on the truck at the sound of the alarm, and thriving in the camaraderie of his team. Now, retired, he still wants to answer the call but knows his time in the field has passed. I felt the same way after retiring from law. For three years, I enjoyed stepping away from the hustle—no more chasing clients, meeting deadlines, or dealing with the unpredictability of litigation. But, like the old dog, I realized I missed it. When the alarm sounded, I still wanted to climb back into the truck.
One day, I saw an ad from Maguire Schneider Hassay, LPA, looking for lawyers to work remotely with flexible hours. It sounded perfect—helping clients and solving legal problems without the grind of a traditional practice. I sent a letter of inquiry and was thrilled to be welcomed as a Consulting Attorney. Almost three years in, I can honestly say there’s never a dull moment. It feels like hosting a talk show, with a steady stream of clients bringing cases that range from routine to outright unbelievable.
For any “old dogs” out there still itching to answer the call, I highly recommend joining MSH. The support staff is incredible, the team collaborative, and the resources top-notch. Working remotely from sunny Southwest Florida, I only know one team member personally, but through our virtual interactions, I’ve come to see MSH as a family. It’s fulfilling work in the best possible environment.
I began my role at MSH in 2022 in the limited capacity of performing a few consultations exclusively involving Intellectual Property. I hoped to expand my role in 2024 and was pleased when MSH agreed. Working in areas such as intellectual property, business law, and landlord-tenant matters, I am committed to enhancing access to justice for our clients. But MSH also permits me to balance my dedication to Villalba Law Firm along with my passion for sharing insights on The Heartsong Entrepreneur podcast, where I explore the intersection of law, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
I truly appreciate the flexibility of collaborating with MSH, as it allows me to pursue my interests, honor my family commitments, and my love of travel while staying dedicated to advancing access to justice. Working with a modern firm that aligns with my values—embracing technology, creativity, and a genuine commitment to client care—gives me the unique opportunity to serve a diverse range of clients in meaningful ways.
I’m currently pursuing a degree in Paralegal Studies with a major in pre-law at the University of Toledo. I’ve been with MSH since December 2023. At MSH, I work in the Correspondence department, where I manage everything coming into and leaving the office, ensuring attorneys meet their deadlines. Outside of work, I’m a proud mom of two wonderful children, a pet lover with one dog and too many cats, and an active volunteer with the Pickaway County Chamber of Commerce, supporting local businesses.
I love working for MSH because it gives me the opportunity to collaborate with attorneys who are dedicated to providing affordable legal services to clients facing complex challenges. Every day brings new opportunities to learn and grow while making a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
I grew up moving from state to state due to my father’s service in the Navy, but in 1997, I found my home in Ohio and began my journey in the legal field. I joined Maguire Schneider Hassay in 2003 as a customer service representative and soon transitioned to the Referral Department. After gaining valuable experience, I moved to the Correspondence Department and, two years later, advanced to my current role as an Estate Planning Paralegal.
Over the years, I’ve worked hard to ensure the timely and accurate
preparation of estate planning documents, always striving to support our clients and colleagues with dedication and care. I’m not afraid to ask for guidance from our attorneys when needed, and I value the collaborative, team-oriented environment at MSH. It’s rewarding to contribute to a firm that prioritizes quality and professionalism.
When I’m not at work, I enjoy cooking, listening to music, sharing laughter, and spending time with my close friends. One philosophy that guides me is the belief that “uncomfortable does not mean impossible.” This mindset motivates me to face challenges head-on and pursue my goals with determination and perseverance.
We are always looking to grow our team with talented people who share our commitment to accessibility, excellence, and practicing with a purpose. Our firm offers a range of employment opportunities for legal professionals who are committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
If you share our passion for providing affordable, innovative legal solutions with compassion and genuine concern for the people you serve, we’d love to hear from you.
