Myth!

If a newly purchased used car breaks down the day after it is purchased, the dealer is not required to fix it or take it back. According to MSH Associate Theodore Kelly, the “Lemon Law” generally applies to new vehicles within one year of delivery or 18,000 miles, so it often does not apply to used vehicles.

Unless there was a specific, provable misrepresentation or some other violation of the Ohio Consumer Sales Practices Act, you are responsible for all repairs the moment you drive off the lot. Call MSH if you have questions about your rights. We’re happy to help.
