Banks are often required to provide preliminary credit if they can’t resolve an investigation within 10 business days. In practice, investigations can take weeks—if not months. MSH Associate Theo Kelly cautions that if the bank determines you’re responsible for the transactions (rightly or wrongly), you may be on the hook for the missing funds.
