Myth!

Under Ohio law, wills can only be officially administered through a probate court with jurisdiction over a deceased person or their property. According to MSH Associate Jordan Treece, a will can direct how assets should be distributed to beneficiaries, and sometimes help the probate process go more smoothly, but it does not prevent an estate from going through probate.

If the goal is to avoid probate, having only a will is not enough. Contact MSH to discuss alternative options for avoiding probate and how a will may fit into your estate plan.
